Kangondo: Enforced Resettlement Inside Rwanda

• Kangondo residents have been forced to relocate to Busanza apartments.
• The rule of law provides that in case of relocation, citizens will be given fair value for their properties in cash or housing
• Citizens are willing to move but the Government gives no further option other than moving into Busanza units where hunger is said to be rampant, citizens unable to farm or own a garden.
• Shikama Jean de Dieu, the spokeperson of the residents who refused to leave is in detention charged with genocide denial and underminding state authority.
