Rwanda Actress Send SOS Message Regarding Killings & Insecurity in Rwanda.

On June 15, a Rwanda actor Bazongere sent an SOS message over unusual killings happening inside Rwanda. The next day, she was forced to recant and she made video contracting everything she had said previously. Rwanda is covering their killings. Since the arrival of RPF in 1990, killings happen inside Rwana daily. Herebelow is a transcript of her video.

“”Greetings! I am Bazongere. I will share some sad news. At the moment, I am sad and very fearful. My family lives in Kayonza. In less than 1 year, each time I come home I hear of such and such person killed. Sometimes being strangled or beat up to death. I am afraid, last night it was my mom’s turn. We are unable to understand until bad things happen to us.

My mom called me last night at 2 am. Some people knocked at her door telling her to open, they wanted her to come outside. We both got worried, because there are many cases of people who are dying in our village. This year alone, there are friends, neighbors who have died. Some of them are known others are unknown as I live in Kigali. Each time I come home; I hear of new cases of death. Let me tell you how this people are dying and you tell me if this is normal.

Last year, my classmate Kwizera was a motorcyclist. People called him one morning. He responded, he went and they beat him, they then beheaded him. He died a bad death, they butchered him and they left his body there; he died that kind of death. I do not follow whether anyone was arrested but I hear some got released. This is when things began to happen. Another person just died in May 2023 not too far from home. It was a man named Gasisi. They beat him to death.

I hear new cases each time I come home. What has reached your neighbor can reach you any time. They beat this man till he finally died. Imagine such torture till death. Dying from beatings in the night and nobody knows the real cause of such a fate. There is another case by our home of a young man who just died not too long ago. His girlfriend killed him, she butchered him and took out organs such as heart, kidneys She killed him such a horrible death. It has not been even a month since that incident. It has not even been 2 months since they killed the other one by beatings.

There is another case of a mother whose child was in the hospital. This happened in Gahini, People called her to come, when she went, she never came back In the morning, her body was found in Gahini valley and she had been killed. This case is hard to digest, she is a mother with children, one of them hospitalized. The husband was disappeared. Kids are orphans, leaders are trying to help those kids. Her husband whereabouts are unknown, no one knows whether he is alive or not.

Again by my house, a woman was attacked from her house. The assailants twisted her neck till it turned towards the back. They thought she was dead and so left her alone. The children heard about it and came to the rescue of their mother. By chance she is not in the hospital.

This is what scares me now the most. My mother called me this morning at 2am. Imagine waking up one day, hearing that your mother was found dead in the home. Excuse me for being so emotional on this video. What’s going on in Rwanda? Is it hunger, is it robberies? Are they killing those whom they suspect to be wealthy? Is it just wickedness? Is it hunger to the point of killing so many people in such ways? Should we take this as normal, ignore it and say it is just because of hunger? Is it so bad to the point of killing someone to survive? The scariest is that it reached my mom’s house. They young lady who lives with mom woke up and alerted mom. Mom said she could hear them also but mom told her not to open the door.

They then called the neighbor; when they reached the neighbor’s home, they locked the neighbor inside their own home. When I asked what to make of all of this, people responded that it is the unemployed youth Who are taking drugs. Are we, the youth, not having means to live and resorting to killing people to live? Is it the final answer, to kill people to live? Aren’t we smart more than that? They are telling us to be self-employed. But even if it is impossible to do this, shall we die like wicked people? To kill to live? To grab my stuff … so that you may live? Things come and go.

This is scary! Not sure it is scary for you but your comments are welcome. I really don’t know what to do, whether to move my mom in the city or not. I am concerned now that these people have begun to knock at her house. Not sure if neighbors are scared or what they think. Not sure what to do to fix this but this is sad and scary.

If you follow me and have solution, please tell me. These cases sadden me. In my life, I do not like to see people being tortured like this. This is too much for me, your advice is appreciated. Maybe you know what my neighborhood can do. So that they youth can be trained for vocation, or it is maybe that these evil people are to be arrested and punished. Help us, it is not easy.”

The following day after her video release, Bazongere was forced to recant. She made another video saying Rwanda is a very safe country. She asked for forgiveness and praised Rwanda government and said Rwanda was a very safe country!
