Rwanda continues to violate the human rights of journalists especially and Rwandans in general. In a country where the police & law enforcement are stationed at every nook and every corner, how can a renowned journalist of a great YouTube channel (@RwandaBurundiTv) disappear just like that, unless the Rwanda Human Rights abusers have their hands in it as usual? News has it that since Friday March 29, 2024, Journalist / YouTuber Joseph Koffi Geobelles is nowhere to be found! Friends and family have gone to every police station to ask his whereabouts and were not helped at all. What has happened to this beloved intelligent geopolitics analyst? In his shows, he always praised the leadership of both the DRC president Tshisekedi and that of Burundi which can be perceived as a crime in a country that support M23.
Friday March 29, 2024, Mr Geobelles went missing. It has been reported also that a few days after, his assistant went also missing. I have spoken to a friend who was kidnapped before in Rwanda and she confirmed to me that by reading the news of Geobelles’ disappearance, they have used similar method they used on her… Phone off line; silence of Rwanda government; police not offering any help; friends and family not having a trace of him… It is important to know that it is around this season (4 months into Kwibuka) that also journalist Ntwali John Williams and Gospel singer Kizito Mihigo went missing, then killed by the government which has a mandate to protect its citizen.
Let all world citizen who have a human heart, a heart that beats with compassion stand together to end the killings in Rwanda and forever put a stop to the long time human rights abuses of dictator Kagame and his regime.
