Rwanda Journalist Cyuma’s Last Words Before His Arrest & Imprisonment – Part 2

A Lawless Country

Journalist Cyuma – Before being taken like a lamb to the slaughter house, he, described Rwanda as a LAWLESS COUNTRY.
“Rwandans have always said it. The real Rwanda politicians have always pointed it out, that we are a lawless country. I heard it but now I have seen it with my own eyes.”

Cyuma: Fellow comrades with whom we grew up together, I say, ‘farewell’. I thank you. A plot to shorten my life has been made, my life is over!

I say good bye to all of you, may the God of peace bless you on my behalf. As we talk now, the security forces have heavily surrounded my home, as you can see via the live images, the next thing is for them to burst through the door – Let me accept my fate but the rule of the law should be given a chance to be observed. The judge has condemned me to imprisonment and per his order I will be brought to jail but now you see what’s going on. I love you my fellow Rwandans. I even love my own government but today it is imperative that I sacrifice my life for all my fellow Rwandans for whom I had become a spokesperson.

Cyuma: If we live in a country that says they respect human rights, a country that is known all over the world, a country that says that their citizens are the most happy, that it is a developed country and that the law is observed, how can these security forces be dispatched to my home and surround it without giving thoughts to the many people who had come to see me, who had come to say farewell to me? How can they dare imprison them, threaten, and treat them so harshly? These guests at my home now are all handcuffed. If Rwanda was a country that follow the rule of the law, the law enforcement should have waited because we have already appealed this case as provided by law.

When security forces are working like this, it is proof that there is no justice in Rwanda; they should let the law be observed. How come our president goes to United Nation and say that Rwanda is a frees country with the rule of the law and even say that Rwanda follows international laws of United Nations which our country has signed and agree to adhere to?

Rwanda should give it time for the law to play out, and allow people to have the right to appeal; and when a person appeals, he should do so being in the condition in which he was found in as the law provides.

So their actions here proves that this is a sham trial; a trial with a pre-planned verdict; a verdict which was already pre-decided. You have seen that even the court was very partial, they took sides, being moved by a very bad politic environment. By looking at how they have surrounded my home, their plan is just to murder me.

Rwanda is a Country of Lawlessness

Rwandans have always said it. The real Rwanda politicians have always pointed it out, that we are a lawless country, I heard it but now I have seen it with my own eyes.

If the judge render the verdict and then immediately within 30 minutes the security forces have already invaded my home, fully armed, that is something! I am a simple person, who respect others, they should follow the laws but you see by their action, it shows that we are a lawless country and it also proves that the judge rendered the verdict motivated by some political interests. What they are doing to me should not happen to anyone and anywhere in the world. I rebuke it. Those of you who are following our channel, wherever you are, if you hear that I have died, do not believe that I have died because of sickness nor because of anything else but know that I have been killed because of bad politicians who want to suppress the press and the freedom of speech. These bad politicians do not want their dirty deeds to be exposed. They do not want anything that does not praise this government.

Interviewer: So this means that no one is allowed to come to your house. No one is allowed in because it has been raided and surrounded?

Cyuma: They should have waited for the law to be applied. You know when these threats happen, it shows that even the judge decision was manipulated for political reasons. Please sound the alarm to the United Nations; sound the alarm to the African Union – Sound the alarm for all Rwandans. This is not acceptable. When a judge render a verdict, the accused has the right to the appeal. This happened in the case of Isaac Munyakazi. Munyakazi appealed and afterward had freedom of movement till the day of his trial.

Doing such things shows the weakness in the RPF Ruling party. Whether I be killed or not, please know that I am taken away in injustice. My only crime is for speaking up for Rwandans; now let fellow Rwandans fight for their honor and freedom; when they see that they rights are being trampled under, let them fight for their honor and respect. It should never be this way.

Interviewer: Yes, let us be brave and see what we can do to help.

Cyuma: Fellow citizens, this is my last voice to you. It is recorded on November 11, 2021 what I have witnessed at my home shows me that the judge took the decision based on bad politics, RIB cars and police have all surrounded my home with guns.
